After graduation, Winters returned to his native San Diego to attend college. He enrolled in City College and became active in the school's drama department under the tutelage of Lyman Saville. Saville soon cast young Mr. Winters in a stage production titled, Little Murders. It was to be the first of many as he simultaneously became active in the San Diego theatrical community as well under the mentor ship of Dr. Floyd Gaffney. Winters tackled a string of challenging roles such as, Brick in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Axel in Don't Drink The Water, Lou in Spell #7, Prince in Moon On A Rainbow Shawl and Homer in The Lilies Of The Field, just to name a few.In an effort to expand his career, Winters moved to Hollywood to seek work in film and television. Earning a coveted SAG card with a supporting role in the prison drama Penitentiary III, he has continued his career for almost two decades. Tony has worked in every genre available to the modern actor; feature films, episodic television, situation comedies, soap operas, commercials, industrial and educational films. On the small screen his credits include: Dynasty, Highway To Heaven, Seinfeld, Grace Under Fire, Arliss, Martial Law, Boston Public, The Bernie Mac Show, The Division, Boomtown, Desperate Housewives and Commander-In-Chief. On the big screen he has appeared in Gremlins 2, Sneakers, Virtuosity, Captain Nuke And The Bomber Boys and Primary Colors.In recent years, Mr. Winters has begun to create his own material. He wrote, produced and starred in a romantic comedy titled, Retiring Tatiana, winner of the Audience Favorite Award at The Pan African Film & Arts Festival 2000. Tatiana paved the way for his latest work, a family drama titled, Section 8. It will be available in stores and on line in early 2006.
Worked as a Tour Guide at Universal Studios Hollywood and later as a Page at NBC Burbank.His stage production of "Section 8" was nominated for three NAACP Theater Awards; Best Production, Best Set Design and Best Supporting Actor.He wrote, produced and starred in Retiring Tatiana (2000) winner "Audience Favorite" of The Pan African Film & Arts Festival.He wrote, produced and starred in Section 8(2006) winner "Best Feature Film" of the 2006 Arizona Black Film Showcase.Uncle Robert of Robert Winters and Fall fame recorded the 80s R&B classic "Magic Man.".Father John Winters was a founding member of the 50s singing group The Pelicans who recorded the Doo Wop hit "Aurelia.".
